Janji Jiwa
In 2022, Jiwa Group (Kopi Janji Jiwa) was Indonesia's biggest grab-and-go coffee chain by outlet count. In 2026, they decided to focus on innovating tech.
Jiwa Group is the parent company behind Janji Jiwa, founded by Billy Kurniawan in 2018 as a single stall selling ten cups a day. The company later expanded into Jiwa Toast and Jiwa Tea.
Janji Jiwa scaled fast by adopting franchising partnerships unlike Kopi Kenangan.
In 2019, when Jiwa Toast launched they saw one of their best years. Since then, outlet count has dropped from 900+ to just over 600.
Jiwa Group is now pushing self-service kiosks, electric coffee cart fleet called Kopi Sejuta Jiwa and started onboarding JIWA+ app and GrabFood delivery to bypass aggregator commissions.
As Janji Jiwa was once the king of grab-and-go coffee. Can it come back?
