McDonald's Stock Drop

Are These The Golden Arches To Hell Or Heaven?

McDonald's stock hit an all-time high of $336.88 on February 27, 2026. Since then it has fallen around 18% into the upper $200s. Which is odd because: McDonald’s still beat its projected earnings, with revenue coming in at $6.52B above the $6.47B that analysts expected and an EPS of $2.83 above the $2.74 estimate. McDonald's achieved its success by pivoting to aggressive value menus targeting the lower and middle income consumers. Turning a 3.6% contraction in US comparable sales from the same period last year into a 3.9% gain this quarter. However with rises in gas prices, and CEO Chris Kempczinski previously telling investors that the macro environment is 'not improving' and may be 'getting a little bit worse.' $MCD's seems to have stayed flat. But with the recent news of McDonald’s “NEXT” growth strategy targeting customer experience and improvements in food quality. Interestingly, the market has yet to react to this announcement as the $MCD’s stock price has barely moved. While Starbucks reached a record $9.53B in Q2 FY2026, with cold drinks previously making up 75% of their US sales. McCafés expansions now feature fruit lemonade refreshers and Red Bull Collaboration at half the price of Starbucks. Have we now entered a Cold (Drink) War and will $MCD’s stock finally be able to reach its highs again?
